How We Became a Church
In 2006, Christ’s Church was started by a group of people seeking to make a difference. We came from a number of different churches where an erosion of sound biblical teaching had occurred over a long period of time. We believed God was leading us to leave our churches, to build a new church that would be God-honoring and biblically faithful. We love to worship God and currently do so in a traditional manner with the singing of hymns and the use of liturgy. However, God is currently impressing upon us to reach the next generation of followers of Christ.
When we first started gathering, we met in an historic congregational church in Highland, California, but then God led us to move to a location that would better facilitate the launch of a new ministry focused on reaching this generation. In November of 2009, we began permanently gathering in Yucaipa, at Yucaipa High School’s multi-purpose room. We were blessed with all of the resources necessary to have a “mobile church” which is set up and torn down every Sunday. Among these resources are a complete children’s ministry classroom set-up, which can accommodate many children, from nursery to elementary school ages; as well as a cutting edge sound and video system.
While we currently meet every Sunday, holding a traditional service, we are currently engaged in a focused effort to reach this generation of people who have not been able to connect with a church. We trust in we will be launching a contemporary worship service in the near future that a new generation can relate to.
In one sense, we have built a church in which we can truly worship God in Spirit and in truth, and in a different sense we are laying a foundation for our future church.
