Sometimes we have areas in our lives of hurt and brokenness which continue to plague us even after we make a commitment to Jesus Christ. When Jesus declared his mission, he said, “[the Spirit of the Lord] has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives]” (Luke 4:18). The Christian life is characterized by freedom from whatever has held us captive—whether it be spiritual, emotional, or physical.
